Cleveland Portuguese Meetup
The Cleveland Portuguese Meetup was just created.
This is good news. (Thanks, Sami!)
At the first meetup, tonight, I listened while the other four talked: Peace Corps, Africa, dreams from Malaria medicines, and regional linguistic differences.
Next month I'll talk, too. I've got to get back to Pimsleur audio, squash Spanish into a corner of my head where I can use-but-not-confuse the many similarities, and get to work on verb conjugation.
Next month is too far away -- longe demais.
...or maybe just right.
staring down fear
Fear was what stood between a man and an extraordinary life, and the surest way through it was to stare it down over and over, until that gaze became habit.
I'm not sure why a workmate sent me the article linked there. (Maybe because I practice handstands in the lab.) It's an inspiring and well-written story of an astonishing human and his sad, stupid death.
